"PV + Energy Storage" is becoming a popular power energy solution

Solar energy and energy storage are rapidly being adopted by more and more users. The speed of this adoption is unheard of for any type of electrical energy technology. Together, solar energy and energy storage provide a new path for greater electrification of the entire economy - such as electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing.

The result was surprising. The United States now has more than 50,000 megawatts of electricity. Over the past decade, solar installations have grown by an average of nearly 60% per year, and prices have fallen by more than 50% in the past five years alone.

These activities help participants see the future trend of the overall energy industry. As we see more projects landed, there will be new opportunities, such as the recent addition of live microgrids, which enables delegates to see for themselves how solar energy and energy storage can improve the reliability and flexibility of the grid.

In addition to technological advances in the industry, experts also stated that the main drivers of rising solar and energy storage instances are federal and state-level tax and policy initiatives. These policies, including the Ministry of Finance's investment tax credit and the Department of Energy's landmark SunShot program, help reduce the cost of solar energy.

California's response to the 2015 accident at a natural gas storage site was a defined event for energy storage. A huge, uncontrolled leak threatens the supply of natural gas to Southern California power plants, schools, and businesses. In response to the crisis, state officials approved the deployment of more than 100 megawatts of battery storage. One of these systems is Tesla's 20 MW/80 MWh (MWh) battery installed in less than three months.

The crisis proved that developers can design, build and debug large amounts of energy storage in a short period of time. It may take several years to install an equal amount of natural gas generators.

With this impressive record, utilities and business users are investing in solar + energy storage.

The “Clean Energy Work and Climate Agenda” issued by the State of New York in 2018 called for the deployment of 1,500 MW of energy storage by 2025. State officials are preparing a list of energy storage projects and plan to allocate energy storage to many large-scale renewable energy and energy projects.
