4-core cable

For 4-kV and below 4-core cables (3+1 cable), the 4th core of the 4-core cable not only serves as a protective ground, but also carries unbalanced current and short-circuit current in the power system. Its size is determined by the unbalanced current and the short-circuit current, but it must not be less than 1/2 of the phase line.

For 1kV and below three-phase four-wire low-voltage distribution systems, when the same conductor is used for the protection line and the neutral line, a 4-core cable should be used instead of using a 3-core cable and a single-core cable to form a circuit, or even directly Use a 3-wire cable with a metal sheath or armored layer as the neutral wire. For HVDC transmission systems, single-core cables should be used; when laying underwater in lakes and seas, coaxial 2-core cables can also be used.
