The difference of several circuit breakers in domestic distribution box

  Actually, it is not only a family distribution box, but also all single-phase circuits (only one phase line is called single-phase electricity, and the opposite is three-phase electricity. Fire line is also called phase line). . By the way, it is actually not called a switch. The scientific name is called "circuit breaker" or "air switch". The name of a more professional point is called "miniature circuit breaker" or simply "micro-off".

Below we briefly describe the differences between several circuit breakers in the distribution box from the following aspects.


Earth leakage circuit breakers and circuit breakers without leakage. The difference in appearance is that in addition to the operation handle, the leakage breaker has a part of the leakage accessory; the breaker without leakage has only the operation handle.

The difference between them is already reflected in the name, that is, the "earth leakage protection" function. With or without leakage protection, the circuit breaker has overload protection and short circuit protection.

In use, the circuit breaker that can control the socket must have the function of leakage protection.

1 pole and 2 poles (also called 1P and 2P). The difference in appearance is the width of the 2P circuit breaker, which is twice that of the 1P circuit breaker. The appearance of the leakage accessory part of the leakage circuit breaker is the same as that of the 1P circuit breaker.

The difference between them lies mainly in the detection and control of the zero line. 1P circuit breaker, when disconnected, can only disconnect the fire line, because in the normal circuit conditions, the neutral line is not charged, so the zero line is always connected it does not matter. However, once the circuit fails, causing the zero line to be charged, and then using the 1P circuit breaker to open the circuit, there is a safety hazard.

When the 1P circuit breaker detects overload and short circuit faults in the circuit, it can only detect the live line and cannot detect the zero line fault.

2P circuit breaker just makes up for these two points, both can be disconnected with zero fire line, but also can detect zero fire line at the same time.

The number of poles of the circuit breaker does not affect any function related to leakage protection.

There is another product between 1P and 2P, but it is less used in home circuits. It is the 1P+N circuit breaker. When it is disconnected, it can disconnect the neutral line. However, the zero line cannot be detected when detecting a circuit fault.


In terms of model, home circuit breakers generally use the DZ47. This point, all circuit breakers are the same. The difference is the rated current parameter.

According to the actual load in the circuit, the current is very detailed. However, in the home circuit, the rated current of the circuit breaker is generally between 16A and 63A.

General family circuit breakers are 2P 32A circuit breaker (main switch), 1P 16A circuit breaker (light switch), 1P 20A leakage circuit breaker (five-hole socket switch), 2P 20A leakage circuit breaker (three-hole socket switch).
